Craft Beer & Brewing selects BKS / Pivo Project Pilsner for top list

In early 2022, we launched Pivo Project, an intentional and deliberate effort devoted to producing high-quality lagers.

When we first brewed the Pivo Project Bohemian-style Pilsner, our intent was to create a lager that pays homage to Czech brewing tradition and ingredients. Using our quality driven approach to lager brewing, we refined and tweaked this recipe over the last few years. The results have produced a soft, bready malt character layered against flowery/spicy Czech Saaz hops. Simple, yet complex and refined. 

Along the way, the Bohemian-style Pilsner has received national level recognition

This includes being featured in Hop Culture magazine in early 2023, which said the Pilsner, “… excellently balances that see-saw between crackery biscuit and spicy herbs from the noble hops. Super snappy and brisk, Bohemian Style Pilsner drinks bracingly clean, inviting you to come back for another sip as soon as you finish the last.”  

In mid-2023, Craft Beer & Brewing scored the Bohemian-style Pilsner a near perfect 99/100, with the review panel noting, “Ultimately, it was the quality and refinement of the hop character and the harmony of malt and hop expression that drove its score of 99.”

In late-2023, Craft Beer & Brewing selected the Pilsner for its list of “Best 20 Beers in 2023”.  During 2023, the Craft Beer & Brewing expert panel of judges blind tasted over 1,000 beers and narrowed the list to a top 20, which they believe reflects the finest in brewing today. Our Pivo Project Bohemian-style Pilsner was picked as one of those top 20 beers.

We work hard to provide a quality product that represents a new approach to traditional styles, and we believe our Bohemian-style Pilsner is a reflection of this effort.
